Dr. Ryan Ebersole
Education
Dr. Ebersole grew up in a number of places, including Texas, Florida, Indiana, Mississippi, and Puerto Rico, and he pursued his B.S. in Psychology at the University of Evansville. After obtaining his M.S. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi, Dr. Ebersole sought his doctorate at the University of Albany, State University of New York, which has one of the top counseling psychology doctoral programs in the country.
Experience
Dr. Ebersole has been providing therapy for nearly 10 years in a variety of settings, including hospitals, academic medical centers, a Veterans Affairs Medical Center, a substance use recovery center, and group practices. Dr. Ebersole is an expert at psychological and diagnostic evaluations, a skill he leverages to fully understand his clients’ challenges and formulate individually tailored treatment plans.
Teaching
A passionate educator, Dr. Ebersole maintains an academic affiliation at the University of Albany, where he has taught a variety of courses, including Ethics and Professional Issues in Counseling, Intermediate Counseling Theory and Practice, Human Sexuality, and Foundations and Techniques of Group Counseling. He also taught a psychological testing seminar at Albany Medical College.
Research
In national and international settings, Dr. Ebersole has published and presented research focusing primarily on the mental and physical health of LGBTQ+ individuals. Dedicated to providing expert and affirming care to LGBTQ+ clients, Dr. Ebersole independently developed an assessment tool to measure clinicians’ degree of competence and affirmative practice.
